The anatomy of a Christmas card photo shoot (Part 3)

So after R got up from his nap, we tried again in the backyard...with mixed results.

Two seconds later, Mr. Model Pout is still practicing but now its Lil' Miss Smiley Pants has arrived!

The anatomy of a Christmas photo shoot (Part Deux)

So now that you've seen the first attempt, this was my attempt at getting us set up on the front lawn again...let's just say, we ended up in the backyard but these shots are quite funny. R was taking a nap so it was just T and I again.

This time however, she was in 'charge'.

P1060991

I have by now probably a thousand pictures of T. There are a few that stand out as my favourites. I think this one is one of those.

P1060992

Lining up her shot.

P1060993

As you can tell from the body language, she's the Mommy now and she will tell me to smile for the camera!

The anatomy of a Christmas card photo shoot (Part 1)

Let me start by saying I adore taking pictures of many things. Two of these many things are my kids. However, there is a caveat. I prefer candids. Why? Because I can never get smiles flashing and eyeballs focussed on the camera when I want them.

Here are some outtakes from my first attempt at getting a Christmas card shoot. Let us begin....

P1060878

Ah yes, the omnipresent pout...it was very visible during the test shots.

">P1060881

Hey Mom, meter this!

P1060893

Testing out the self timer and the lighting
(Note to Mom, its time to colour your hair and get some sleep!)

P1060900

R is finally up from his nap, we begin. I'm off on the far left trying to make smiles...some people take after their mom a little too much, Mr. Sober Sides!

P1060904

One smiling, one looking rather stunned...try again.

P1060907

One AWOL, one not looking at camera...try again.

P1060909

One looking dejected, one not paying attention...try again.

P1060915

Yeah, I hear ya, that look says it all. Why is Bart in the picture?

P1060924

Cute but not what I'm looking for...

P1060930

P1060937

Thought it'd be nice to get a picture with my son as I have so few of me and T at this age...

P1060938

R finally looks at the camera albeit he is starting to really fuss and T has to get her fingers into the way of the lens!

We finally gave up and went inside after the neighbours started making popcorn and watching us instead of their TVs for entertainment!

T's art explained and biking videos

So for whatever reason, Blogspot won't let me upload videos so you will have to click on the links below to view the videos on Flickr. Note you might want to turn up the volume on your computers.

La petite artiste #1 (T explains her bird art)

La petite artiste #2 (T explains her banana, self portrait and the blue painting)

La petite artiste #3 (T explains her banana artwork in further detail, including how one might eat it)

La petite artiste #4 (T explains her school bus and her portrait in great detail) Note this clip seems to have been cut off because after I asked her what colour her nose was, I got a "MOMMA!"

La petite artiste #5 (T becomes a f;ustered artist and stomps off set)

La petite artiste #6 (T explains the bird craft at length)

La petite artiste #7 (T explains the big red apple)

La petite artiste #8 (T explains the hippo puppet she made at zoo camp)

Look out Lance Armstrong/Biking in the garage (T has greatly improved since these where filmed; I move the car to the driveway and she has free rein to toodle around the garage at break neck speeds on her bike).
